Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am teaching sixth through eighth grade English as a Second Language and Reading. One of the things I noticed this year is the lack of books that represent my students. We need books that represent all of our students. In order for our students to want to pick up a book and learn to read, the first step is finding books that they will love.
We need heroes and heroines who look like our students and are facing difficulties like them too! The books I am requesting represent my newcomer students. Most of the books have parallel text in both English and Spanish. This will help them identify words and make connections between both languages. Of course I added other favorite books that they will love too.
Please help me provide books that will help my students grow not only as English Language Learners, but readers too.
