My Project

Books have the incredible power to shape young minds, foster empathy, and broaden perspectives. However, many of the books in our classroom library lack representation from marginalized communities.

The inclusion of diverse literature in classrooms prepares students for success in a diverse society, equipping them with the cultural competence and understanding necessary to navigate and thrive in an interconnected world.

When students see themselves reflected in the literature they read, it validates their identities and promotes a more inclusive classroom culture. Additionally, exposure to diverse literature cultivates empathy and understanding among students. Whether it's literature featuring protagonists of diverse races, ethnicities, religions, genders, abilities, or socioeconomic backgrounds, I want to amplify the voices of marginalized and underrepresented communities in our school.
