My Project
As a 6th grade literacy teacher, I’m always looking for ways to inspire a love of reading in my students. Growing our classroom library with engaging, high-interest fiction is one of the most effective ways to do that. These books will help expand not only the variety of stories on our shelves, but also my students' excitement for reading.
Representation matters to my students - they need to see themselves in the books they read.
In class, we often talk about new book releases and share recommendations, but many of my students are still reluctant readers. I’ve found that when they see themselves reflected in the characters or learn about lives different from their own, their interest and confidence in reading grows. Books written by authors from diverse backgrounds—or featuring diverse main characters—are especially powerful in sparking that engagement. With your support, we can make reading more inclusive, exciting, and meaningful for every student.
