Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are inner city students, the school has an 80% poverty rate. The students that will directly benefit from this project are enrolled in my ninth grade biology course.
Many of my students never leave the city limits of our district.
I teach my course by introducing students to global issues. It is my goal to develop students into global citizens and show them how they can apply the skills and concepts they are learning to make the world a better place.
My Project
Provide students technology, iPad, and accessories, protection case and tripod, to create fun and engaging multimedia projects. The large storage size of an iPad with 128GB of memory allows multiple groups and classes to record and store videos.
An iPad will allow students the opportunity to cover news stories from the field, produce scientific book reviews, record lab demonstrations and interview past "scientists" (role play).
After recording videos students will be able to use the iMovie software, included on the iPad, to edit their videos. This includes students being able to merge their videos filmed in front of our green screen, very easily, with videos recorded in other locations of the world.
