Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want to teach my kids about recycling, reusing and reducing with books and projects. They can learn about taking care of the environment now by providing them with fun filled activities that focus on reusing plastic bottles and, decorating their own tote bag to help reduce the use of plastic bags.

My students are a wonderful group of thoughtful, caring, and energetic kids.

Every child brings their own uniqueness to my classroom each day. They love to help, solve problems and create beautiful projects. My young learners can learn about taking care of the planet. They are ready to start projects that will change their future as they contribute to protect our beautiful planet.

My Project

I want to get my students involved in celebrating Earth Day every day. The books that I selected will get us started on shared discussion. One of the books selected has six copies so we can sit in a small group and respond to how we can each make a difference. They will be able to draw and write using crayons, sharpeners, markers and chalk to campaign for reducing plastic bottles. We will make invitations for other kids to join us in our campaign to reduce and reuse. The large recycling bin will help us collect bottles at school and get everyone involved. As we recycle water bottles we will turn them into piggy banks using glue, wiggly eyes, shapes, and the different printed duck tapes. The kids will decorate their own tote bag with fabric markers. The bags are Eco-friendly and will inspire my little ones to use reusable bags.

Teaching young children to reduce the use of plastic and using reusable bags is a good habit to start now.

They can learn to appreciate our resources, and, they will be responsible, ecological members of society. This project is important and together we can change the future. Our kids are ready to learn, create, design, and get others involved to save out planet Earth!
