We have an amazing school located in a high-poverty, mid-west college community. For some of my students, school is where they feel the safest and most successful. Our focus is our students and we are willing to do whatever it takes to help them be successful and show them they can all be great 21st Century thinkers.
Learning is not one-size-fits-all and my students represent different languages, learning styles, academic levels, and have varying behavior, emotional, and socioeconomic needs.
They are great group!
My Project
Third graders are busy! They like to move while learning and they love being able to see, hear, and manipulate things through technology.
These resources are needed to replace some of our current items that have worn out and to provide some additional items in our classroom.
We need a variety of styles and heights of alternate seating options for the varying sizes and learning needs of students. We currently have three stability balls that have sprung a few leaks, and while they have been patched, they are still not holding air like they should, so they need replaced. We also need some taller flexible seating options for those students that are a bit taller and options that can easily be stored within our classroom when they are not in use.
We are also needing earbuds, as many of the ones we have are no longer working and we no longer have any spares. Last year, I purchased a classroom set of earbuds so that every student would have their own designated pair. Unfortunately, they just don't seem to last very long and even though we try to be gentle, some are no longer working. We use our Chromebooks for a variety of activities and when students are all practicing math and reading skills through programs such as Reflex, FrontRowEd, or iStation, they need to be able to hear what the program says to them.
