Last year I purchased a carpet (4'X 6') for $20! It started falling apart within a month!! I had to cut threads everyday so my students wouldn't trip. I teach inner city second graders. They are energetic and love to wriggle around as they read. Having a carpet with pillows makes a very inviting and comfortable place to quietly practice reading. I would like to have a good quality carpet for them this year. I would like a carpet with a fun school related pattern that can withstand daily use by 25 squirming 7 and 8 year olds. Having a comfortable, semi-private place to sit and/or lay and read with a partner or independently will help my students see reading as a fun activity and not just another skill they learn at school. The pattern on the carpet I am requesting will also help with character education and with building vocabulary helpful to expressing feelings.
