We are an inner-city school with a high poverty rate and ethnically diverse population. My students are creative and spend their days not only attending core classes like Math, Science, and English, but a variety of art classes like Drama, Martial Arts, Guitar, and Photography.
Our school prepares students for college in an academically challenging, arts-integrated environment.
Not only are my students involved in extra-curricular activities, they are dedicated to their grades. Many stay at school until five or six pm, either in tutoring or attending a club meeting. My students are well rounded and participate in activities like volleyball, ballroom dance, basketball, cheerleading and a variety of clubs from Student Council to National Honor Society and everything in between.
Every year my cameras go through about 75 different sets of hands a week. Even when the students are careful with them, they still have a rough week. We normally have one or two cameras that bite the dust every year.
These camera bodies will replace several cameras that are not operating very well or are outright broken.
My students love to take pictures and we currently have having to do quite a bit of juggling to make sure each student gets to have a turn with a camera. This project will alleviate some of the wait time for students.
