Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are adventurous and are always looking to dig deeper and decode the language of music. At our K-8 Pilot School, we serve students from all over the city, including a significant population of low income, English language learners and special education students.

Their curiosity is a perfect match for the endless possibilities of music.

I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their journey by exploring one of the most magical parts of the school day.

My Project

Every year hundreds of our students utilize the instruments graciously donated to our school. With such a high volume of music instruction, our instruments need to be maintained to be in tip-top shape for next year's adventures. Also, excitedly, there is a possibility for an increase in next year's number of music participants.

If this project is funded, it will allow us to expand our woodwind and percussion participants by providing mouthpieces!

The recorders in this project will allow for our 4th-grade students to begin their journey into reading music and potentially joining our 5th-grade band. They are over the moon with the chance to show off their skills!
