Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are on the spectrum of autism and from a low socioeconomic background. Many of these students struggle, with their organizational skills. Due to their unique challenges, having color coded folders helps them readily organize their assignments. Also, as their case manager, it is imperative that I document their data in a timely manner, so having a scanner will allow me to scan several sheets of data at a time rather than being bound to my desk scanning one sheet of data at a time. Having thorough documented data ensures that IEPs are reflective of students' performances and goals and have proper placement. The binders are used for journaling, which we do regularly in our ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) assignments. Together, these items will help support healthy habits such as self-advocacy, self-expression, and social awareness skills.
