We need 5 wireless presenter remotes for students to share their work with the class and their families at our family literacy night. It helps students scroll through Google slides and Google Classroom documents.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
I work with amazing students in the city of Sun Valley. I teach English and English Language Development classes. I have had the pleasure to work with them and watch them prepare for high school, reclassify to become proficient in English, etc. It is a pleasure to help them prepare for the "real world." I want them to learn to use Academic and Professional language to prepare for college and careers. Teaching them to present will help with this goal.
Students are already nervous enough to share their work with peers or the greater school community. It makes a group or individual project easier if they do not have to fear technology freezing on them. The remotes give them something to hold when they present to remind them that they control the information and the tone of the presentation. It is a tool that will support their sharing of their work in progress or final projects.
In Their Own Words
We are leading the class. We will present narratives, online slides about topics such as the Holocaust and present work being drafted for feedback from the class as well. It is easier to decide what we show the class and for how long if we have the remote in our hands.
Having a remote to control the pacing of their presentations will make them lead the class or share their work with more confidence. It reminds them that they set the tone and pace to share their best work with their peers and community members. It helps their presentation become polished and professional.
This will help us not feel nervous standing up there. It is already hard enough presenting. I do not want my Google slide to move ahead or my Word document to scroll down. I can control how fast or slow my presentation moves. I want to share information when I want it shared with the class.
