This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are WONDERFUL, I am in awe of their resilience, their contagious smiles, their willingness to show up and try even when they don't know how to do it, their sense of humor, their kind hearts and their love for life.
This year will be very different for my kindergarteners as they will be learning remotely, it will be a new experience for us all as we navigate new technology and new relationships.
My Project
I just started at this new school yesterday and I will be teaching kindergarten remotely. However, all of the laptops and iPads were given away to students and there are none left for me. These are unprecedented times and this is an all-hands-on-deck type of situation. School is starting next week, but all I have is the school's desktop. Because of COVID, teachers have to become overnight tech gurus spending hours of their own time Googling, downloading, creating, and sharing their newly learned skills. Since I only have a desktop, which also happens to be located in someone else's classroom, I won't have access to it to teach remotely, and I won't be able to become the tech guru that I need to be in order to be the best that I can be this year as I can't take it home. This laptop will allow me to create Google Slides to deliver my lessons as well as create a ClassDojo page for the parents and me to communicate. I will be using this laptop daily to engage in Zoom meetings to meet with all of my students and to create small groups for me to target my teaching.
