My Students

My Second Grade students come from all backgrounds and walks of life. They are the kindest and most hard working students! Their love of learning and determination to grow as learners and community members is both inspirational and heartwarming.

At least 85% of my students depend on school for not only educational support, but for school supplies, food (both at school and for over the weekends), structure, emotional support, and often just a warm place to go where they are welcome and nurtured.

Due to COVID-19, our district will be beginning remotely. My students have very little educational materials and enrichment items at home (especially in the area of the reading, writing and math). Any supplies and support would be greatly appreciated and extremely useful!

My Project

By donating to my project you are helping my students in all areas of their learning! Many of my students are struggling readers with minimal access to reading materials at home. The books you provide will improve my students' decoding, reading fluency and comprehension skills( both during lessons and on their own) and create the stepping stones for their own bedroom libraries!

As many of my students are anxious and unsure when spelling unfamiliar words (particularly when English is not a language spoken at home), the spelling dictionaries you provide will allow my students to independently and confidently spell words as they create their own tales of wonder and explore new purposes for their writing!

As kinesthetic and hands-on learning has been proven to be the most effective form of instruction for young minds, the clocks and flashcards will allow my students to practice their skills in telling time and play fun games around fact fluency with their families and loved ones at home!
