My Students
We are an ICT (general education and special education) 4th grade classroom.
These amazing students are inquisitive learners who attend a public school in New York City.
We have 25 students who represent all of the great diversity of New York City. They are always enthusiastic to learn and are constantly surprising me with their deep thinking!
My Project
Imagine my dismay when I opened my school-issued laptop this summer to begin another day of professional development and discovered it had completely quit working. Even with a new power cord, nothing happened!
Whether we will be hybrid or remote in the fall, I cannot effectively teach my students without a computer.
A new computer will allow me to continue to improve on all of the tricks and strategies I've been learning about this summer, utilizing new programs, and making remote learning more engaging for my students. The headset will make it easier for my students to hear me while I'm doing live teaching and checking in on their well-being. Or, if we are hybrid, recording lessons from the classroom to those students who are not in the classroom with us.
I was so excited to share everything I've learned this summer with my students- from making Nearpods, to continuing racial equity work, to Zoom and Khan Academy trainings. With all of these new skills I have, my students are in store for a fascinating year!
This school year is too "up in the air" to be left without a computer. I can be flexible, and I hope I will be safe, but only with the right tools!
