Help me give my students a better math experience through the superior math apps offered on iOS since the pen helps create clean lines/equations on screen, and the keyboard gives better access to students with disabilities.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
While together, our classroom consisted of model examples and explanations on guided note packets for the math classroom. When Covid-19 separated us, I wanted nothing more than for math class to not be one of the many changes in my students' lives. I continued my lessons on their packets by filming myself on my iPhone using two different tripods, I still have not found a solution that works best. This method just hasn't worked well enough with struggling students.
I knew there was a better way to teach mathematics remotely, but I also knew that neither I, nor my school, had the technology to support it.
I knew I needed an iPad with the Apple Pen so that I could use the Explain Everything App. This would allow me to create screen cast videos both on our handouts and the whiteboard, demonstrating the work fully, just like in class. As remote learning continues, I know the iPad will be a game changer with its many superior math apps!
My Project
When we return to school, the iPad will serve both our large group instruction as well as an instructional aid for students with disabilities. Many students benefit from assisted technology that we just don't have and extra devices are always needed!
Virtual learning can be very hard, so I plan to create exciting instructional videos for my students on apps that are only available on iOS, a device with built in camera and microphone.
This will enhance my remote instruction, making it more accessible to struggling learners, as well as create another vehicle for communication.
