This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty-stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low-income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in our building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos' lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.
Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.
They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.
My Project
I have been trying to collect items for the students to use within a remote setting but need a few more items to finish off my at home student supply care packages that I will be delivering to students. In this project I have requested gift cards for teachers paid teachers. This is a teacher ran site where teachers create and sell materials for others to use. These resources might be printable learning games, worksheets for reinforcement, printable learning centers for reading and math and so many other resources. This is so important providing we are in a remote start up until at least November in our district. Finding resources for students so that they can learn vital information that they might not have gained during the spring and continue to also teach standards from the current grade will be a daunting task with out this site.
I have also requested a few items that will complete the at home supply care package I am creating for my students.
Ear buds for the technology students are going to be using is very important for some students. I want to have enough for my students to have a set for home and school when start back live so they do not have to bring items back and forth.
I also am requesting water colors, colored pencils and construction paper as part of art projects that I will use to reward students to also incorporate the fun and provide social emotional support for some that would never see these items at their homes. Please help me on my mission to make sure that all student have all they need to succeed this school year.
