My Students

Reading strategies range from skill deficits, such as a lack of phonics instruction to disengagement and anxiety. I work closely with students to develop a plan that is outlined with specific reading goals. These goals range from word and passage reading fluency to multiple choice and open ended reading comprehension questions. I work with students of all ages to acquire the skills necessary to succeed as a reader. To improve reading comprehension, it is important to introduce the seven cognitive strategies of effective readers: activating, inferring, monitoring-clarifying, questioning, searching-selecting, summarizing, and visualizing-organizing.

My Project

As a Microsoft district, this tablet will help my remote learning lessons engage the students in more ways than one. My lessons are virtual interactions between all students. Microsoft Teams Meetings allow me to share my screen using a whiteboard function with my students. This brings the classroom right to them at home. The surface tablet allows for hands-on access to all the different apps I need to teach my students remotely. The surface will allow for my students to get the virtual education they deserve right from the comfort of their own home!
