Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Tier 1 school. Tier 1 schools are usually schools where most of the students are below the poverty level. Also, students struggle across all academic levels. Most of my students are students with disabilities and English language learners. Many of my students come from backgrounds where their parents are only Spanish speakers and have attained only an elementary level education. Being exposed to these conditions, many of my students are below grade level when they enter my classroom.
My Project
When I left my classroom in March, I never thought I wouldn't be back for the remainder of the school year. I didn't take anything home that would facilitate remote teaching. Although we aren't in the classroom, we still owe it to our students to provide them with quality instruction. I am asking for chart paper in order to display posters and be able to write on while involved in remote teaching.
A lap desk and floor seat would allow me to teach from the ground which would simulate me being in the classroom while teaching on the rug.
The lap desk would be used to hold materials while live teaching.
The easel would be used as a device to write on and also manipulate magnetic tools used during math and phonics instruction. I would be sitting on the floor with my computer projecting me teaching my lessons using all these materials in the described ways.
