My Students
While things will look a lot different due to COVID-19, I am still extremely excited to teach my students. Kindergarten provides children the opportunity to grow and develop as learners. My students are young, eager, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientist and future leaders ready to take on not only kindergarten but the world!
As I continue to adjust to Remote Learning, I cannot help but imagine the smiles on my students face when they receive materials that can help them succeed at home during this time.
All of my students are from black/brown and or Hispanic backgrounds and majority come from low socioeconomic status households.
Despite the hardships many of my students face outside of our classroom, inside of our classroom ALL are welcome. We are a family and together we will over come obstacles and we will win!
My Project
Originally my students were expected to return to school by November. Due to COVID-19, my students will not be returning to school this Fall. While we won't be returning to our physical classroom, the learning will continue.
As a teacher, I want nothing more but for all of my students to have the needed materials to be successful in Kindergarten.
Primary notebooks, dry erase markers and crayons will provide my students with a place to write which will help support their writing development. Index cards will support students sight word development. Glue sticks will provide my students with a chance to practice their fine-motor skills which will support ultimately support their writing skills. A ten-frame will support my students with big math ideas such as number sense. The folders will keep my students papers and materials organized and readily available for the next lesson. During remote learning, it is especially difficult for students to learn and participate when they do not have the proper tools. Hence, these tools will help my students academically as well as increase their class participation.
