Help me give my students the physical materials (dry erase boards, markers, scissors, etc.) and activities (Teachers Pay Teachers gift card) they need for fully remote learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty-stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low-income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in our building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos' lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.
Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.
They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.
My Project
I am creating this project because our district has decided to go fully remote the first marking period of the school year. My students won't have the materials they need for learning at home and it could cost the families a lot of money. I want to provide them an at home tool kit with all the materials that they would need to succeed in this distance learning experience. I have a few things already but the items in the project would wrap up the tool kits I have already started.
Remote learning is not easy especially when you don't have the materials you need to be successful.
I have asked for white boards and dry erase markers with eraser caps so that students can quickly display work on a zoom lesson without wasting paper. I have asked for scissors just in case we need to do a cut and sort or other things that involve cutting. The hand wipes will be for the classroom when we return to ensure student safety. The pencil boxes will contain the materials for the at home materials. Your help would truly help my students flourish in a remote learning setting.
One of the items was a gift card to Teacher Pay Teachers. This is a website that is created by teachers and they sell resources such as worksheets on a given subject or centers that they have created. This is extremely useful to get work for students that will be grade and level appropriate that will be in addition to the curriculum. I will print these resources to send home for students to work on. It will also help bridge the gap that was lost in the spring in Kindergarten.
