Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of scholars who come to school excited to learn each day. They are willing to try new things and determined to persevere. They are kind and eager to improve their skills in all areas. We are practicing new routines that include the students working on their ability to explain their thinking and strategies. I love hearing them remind each other, “You’re not wrong! Just use your words to tell what you think.” This group is wonderful and though I miss seeing their faces in our classroom everyday, they are working extremely hard from theirs homes to continue to persevere in their learning.
My Project
With the unexpectedness of COVID-19 we were unable to provide our students with materials to take for home use. I am extremely impressed with my students work effort during these times, however, the supplies listed would be extremely helpful.
These supplies would enable them to practice from home similarly to how we did in class.
Using whiteboards they would be able to quickly jot down their math problems to draw them out and check their work. They would be able to practice writing using their notebooks. It would even allow us to do some art directed drawings from home via our chat meetings.
Each student would receive a pack including: a whiteboard, Expo marker, eraser, notebook, pencil, sharpener, drawing paper, and crayons. Once delivered, I will sort supplies into packs and arrange for a drive thru pick up where I can wave to each of my kids from a safe distance as they receive their supplies.
I know that my class would be extremely grateful to receive these supplies and I would be thrilled if we were able to accomplish this amazing donation for them.
