My Students
I teach in a beautifully culturally diverse Title I school. I have 26 students who adore learning. These students are happy to be at school, even without all of the supplies they need. They work together, problem-solve, and share to make sure that everyone gets what they need. I want to give these students every opportunity to explore their potential, and to access high paying careers. I believe these students should also have a classroom full of materials that reflect them, their culture, and their interests.
My Project
This year my students will be learning from home remotely. While all of my students have loving adults in their lives, not all students have an adult to remind them to complete remote work. To reduce parent stress, and to motivate students to learn independently, I want to create a mail rewards system.
When students complete assignments, they will earn rewards that will be sent through the mail!
Based on my experience working with 4th graders, I have chosen some of the most coveted items by kiddos. Imagine being ten years old and receiving a prize like one of these in the mail! When we went remote last year, we did not have such a system in place. It is really hard for kids to manage their own time. But with a fun boost, I am certain I will see more engagement!
