I work with a very dedicated, innovative, caring, and compassionate team of educators! My students are a unique team of caring and inquisitive learners. They have learned to believe in themselves through risk taking, a willingness to learn, and experiencing success and independence within the safe nurturing and supportive learning environment we created.
Every student in our class adds a unique and luminous touch to our group!
My students eagerly share their expertise with each other to help our class grow and expand their horizons. We celebrate a variety of cultures and know how important it is to support every student's individuality through acceptance; whether it aligns with our own interests or not.
"Ancora Umparo" is our motto as we are always learning! My students enjoy guiding their own inquiry, creating and solving puzzles, spreading kindness and appreciation throughout our school, and exploring their creativity! They impress me every day and make every day a new and exciting learning adventure for all of us!
My Project
Please help me to build a warm remote community to unite and stay connected with my amazing first graders. Remote learning is not ideal nor does it not hold a candle to being in the classroom with my eager, energetic first-grade learners. Unfortunately, physical and emotional safety in a classroom are almost impossible to attain during this frightening pandemic.
Since our school closed late in March, I have been using the run down laptop assigned to me to communicate with my students daily.
I think it's important to see their faces and create as many opportunities for online discussions and collaborations as possible. The laptop given to me by the school does not charge beyond 50% and crashes often which has made virtual learning extra challenging. With a new up to date laptop, I will be able to communicate more clearly with my students, plan and share exciting learning experiences, and know that my work is protected without the fear of losing newly created assignments whenever my laptop decides to crash. In addition, it will be an excellent resource to bridge the return back to our classrooms and continue to provide challenging, creative, and innovative social-emotional and academic learning experiences for my inquisitive little learners.
I continue to host weekly optional Google meets every Thursday as I promised my students that no matter what happens, I will always always be available to chat and help them through these confusing and difficult times. Even during these chats, I often have to reboot the laptop after it shuts itself down. I would be so grateful to have the technology I can count on so that I can use my energy towards reimagining remote learning and designing exciting out-of-the-box experiences that will help my students to almost forget that we are working virtually.
