My Students
My urban students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many students lack the basic skills for their age when entering first grade. Without the basic foundational skills students it is easy for students to fall behind in the later grades.
I want my classroom to be an environment with hands on learning so students stay engaged.
With the right resources students can be successful not only in first grade but throughout life.
They love having special tools to help them to know that they are doing important work while exploring, having fun and learning.
My Project
Tools to promote student engagement while ZOOMing, or working independently is a must! Remote learning is a new reality for all of us.
Active participation during ZOOM lessons in phonics, math, or response to literature are made easy with the right tools handy.
Magnetic white boards allow students to both write/draw and use magnetic letters. Magnetic letters are easy to manipulate while learning a phonics skill, or spelling pattern. The white board is for writing/drawing with ease.
Equity of resources is a concern, particularly while schools remain closed. All 1st graders will have what is necessary to focus and build the skills necessary for future success!
