Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of being the English Language Arts teacher of 32 dynamic 6th grade students at a NYC public school in the South Bronx. They are a spirited and very vocal group who do not mind sharing their thoughts and opinions with everyone and anyone who will listen. Their energy is contagious and they are the highlight of my day.

My Project

As we all adjust to online teaching and learning, I have found myself searching for ways to demonstrate tasks to students in ways that are engaging and impactful. If I were in the class with my kids everyday, I would be able to clearly demonstrate and model the work we are doing - my teaching would be visible and explicit.

The materials I have requested will allow me to host a live lesson (or prerecord one) and model for the students the way I would in our classroom everyday.

It would enable me to transform remote, online learning to the real learning experience to which they have become accustomed to up to and perhaps engage them more meaningfully in their learning.
