Remote Learning Is Only as Successful as Your Connection
Help me give my students the technology (iMac) to be successful during remote learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my Algebra I and Debate classes come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I teach in a Title I school in Brooklyn, and my students predominantly live within the surrounding neighborhood.
The students who attend our school are some of the hardest working that I have ever encountered.
Despite the challenges they face daily, they continue to show up, persevere, and achieve great things academically.
My Project
This year the New York city department education is doing remote learning and blended learning. Half of the day I am teaching students online virtually and trying to make the lessons as engaging as possible. Since the Department of Education is having trouble funding schools lately, most of our technology is obsolete.
I run the debate team and the algebra classes for school, and being able to do this remotely is essential to giving our students the ability to succeed academically.
We host our very own virtual debate tournaments online and the level of success is dependent on the connection we have with the students and families.
At the end of the day, the only way to make remote learning successful is to make sure we were able to connect with our kids. Our school has very old computers and when we use them to connect with students we are frequently kicked off or have a delayed connection missing audio or video. In addition to the tech problems that our students are having, teachers that are trying to communicate with the students from school to their homes shouldn’t be having this dilemma! We greatly appreciate you considering our donors choose project and we are fully committed to making sure that every dollar goes to the bettering of remote learning.
