My Students

Like many students throughout the country, our school is impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. When the school closure was announced we expected to be back in the school building within two weeks. Due to the severity of the situation, we have not been able to return to school.

My EL students are eager to learn and explore!

Our school community works hard to provide the best possible education for our students! For many of my students, this is their first experience with English. In my school of over 500 students, over 50% of our students are English Learners. There are 20 different language groups in my school. We celebrate the rich diversity of our school community.

My Project

I provide EL support to students in the 4th and 5th grades. Many of my students are newcomers and are still becoming acclimated to a new language and culture. Prior to the closure, my EL students received small group instruction in their English Language Arts and Math classroom. All of the materials that we used for language support are in the school building.

We need supplies such as a small group teaching easel, magnetic letter tiles, dry erase markers, and index cards to support English Language instruction during remote learning!

These teaching materials will be used during teaching sessions. The index cards and markers will be used to display content vocabulary words. The magnetic letter tiles will be used for phonics instruction. The small group teaching easel will be used in teaching sessions with my students. Your support is greatly appreciated.
