Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work at an inner-city elementary school as a 4th grade teacher. While my classroom consists of general ed students, 10 out of 29 of them are ELL's. The majority of my students are living below the poverty line, and all students receive breakfast at school.
My students are ambitious and eager to learn.
Now that they find themselves in a situation where they have to work from home, learning has become a challenge for many. Although the enthusiasm remains, the struggle is real! Some students with computer access are using their parent/guardian's cell phone or a tablet that is shared within the family. I'm trying to do what I can in order to make learning as easy as possible.
My Project
During this time of Remote Learning, students are being asked to engage in live lessons which is an entirely new concept for them! For this project, I am asking to receive support that will simplify the learning transition for each of my students. By receiving a Wacom One, I will be able to share my computer screen with my students as they watch my problem-solving sketches appear on their screens immediately.
My students are faced with many distractions in their homes and I would love to be able to limit any distractions that I can by supporting them with their learning during these tough months.
