My students need portfolios and composition notebooks as the school year is coming to an end, and we are ready to reflect on and store our most important fourth-grade learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a Title I school. That means my students come from low socioeconomic households, and for most of them, English is not their first language. 65% of my students are English Language Learners.
Despite challenges, my students come to school each day eager to learn and take charge of their education.
I believe in empowering my students and giving them thrilling and motivating educational experiences that simultaneously improve their math, writing, reading, science and social studies skills.
My Project
Research has shown that if kids write about their understanding of a topic, they remember the information more accurately and for longer periods of time. I want my students to reflect on their 4th grade learning through the use of portfolios.
Throughout the school year, we have been filing away pieces of 4th grade work that will show our hard work and growth in each learning area.
With the end of the school year approaching, we will need a convenient way to organize and store our 4th grade work in a portfolio. The portfolio pockets are a perfect tool for 4th grade students to store their work in a way that is easy to handle and access often. The composition pads are like our portfolio's table of contents. They will hold our reflections on the work we have included in our portfolio. It is important that my students have specific reasons about what makes their chosen work great. Composition pads are a great way to keep their reflections organized and neat.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
