My Project
Graphic novels benefit struggling and reluctant readers by making the task of reading less daunting. The text on the page is more manageable, and they can use the context clues in the illustrations to help with comprehension. The illustrations also help English language learners and visual learners use the context clues in the illustrations to interpret nonverbal gestures and make inferences.
Graphic novels help many different kinds of readers and learners.
Advanced readers also benefit from graphic novels because graphic novels develop visual literacy, an understanding of the sequence of events, and stronger vocabulary. These diverse graphic novels will help develop our students' vocabulary and comprehension because they will be read.
