This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a school on the far northeast side of Chicago where 100% of the students receive free lunch. Due to the lack of funding, I am using two very old computers for remote learning. One laptop is a 10 year old Dell that is so outdated it doesn't even have a camera! The other is a 6 year old Dell laptop that constantly loses internet connection in the middle of my meetings with my students. We are only in our first week of remote learning this school year and not only am I frustrated but my students are too! My technology issues are interrupting their ability to learn.

I need a reliable laptop to use for remote learning, this will help me stay connected to my students and give them the education they deserve.

My Project

Everyday I use two laptops and an iPad to teach my students from my living room. My schools teacher technology was not prepared for remote learning, and all newer computers were given out to students for them to use at home. I'm left with two very old computers and my own personal iPad to manage my daily Google meets. I use one laptop (that doesn't even have a camera) to present. I use another laptop to actually communicate with and see my students, but it constantly loses connection and needs to be restarted at least 2 times during the school day. This leaves students waiting for me to get back on the meet, and begin teaching again. My students are literally losing learning time, because of my lack of reliable technology.
