it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are wonderful. They are refugees from all around the world. They are new to the United States, and have entered middle school during some of the hardest times of their lives. They are studying English through content and sometimes themes are a little difficult for them to relate to.
My goal is to teach a novel study for my students with a book that will be relevant to their lives.
The book will keep them engaged in the topic and at the same time allow them learn and understand the content standards along with their peers.
Refugee by Alan Gratz is the perfect book for my students. It ties three different characters together from different places around the world, uniting their stories in the end. I know that my students will find a way to connect to the story, and I am excited to expose them to this novel with your help.
