Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students are ELL (English Language Learners) and/or receive ESE (Speech) service. Many of my students struggle with sitting still in their hard, plastic chairs and desks all day.
By providing these various flexible seating options, my students will be able to increase their motivation and engagement, while having choice, responsibility, and accountability!
Many of my students come to school tired and unmotivated and some of my students come to school full of energy. So, you can imagine the challenge of 7 and 8 years having to sit in the hard, plastic chairs and desks for 8 hours. I want to provide my students with a learning environment where they are comfortable sitting on a wobbly stool chair (where they can acquire stimulation or release the excess energy while remaining motivated and engaged in their learning task)!
My Project
Many of my student come to school tired and unmotivated and some of my students come to school with lots of excess energy. These wobble stools will provide flexible seating options while allowing my students to release their excess energy, increase their focus, motivation, and engagement. I want to ignite my student's optimal learning situation by providing a flexible physical space environment.
By providing these various flexible seating option, my students will be able to increase their motivation and engagement, while simultaneously having choice, responsibility, and accountability!
My classroom is not yet at the flexible seating level to meet all my students needs as struggling learners. This grant project will help to close that gap just a little bit more!
