As a class in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with numerous challenges both in and out of the classroom. In spite of the challenges they face they come to school hungry and ready to learn and grow. It is my goal as a teacher to provide each student that enters my classroom with meaningful learning experiences.
They love to move, they love to talk, and love lots of positive attention.
Many students live in a single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things can keep them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the certain life experiences. In my classroom I focus on their potential, and try to give them the best opportunities to succeed. I may not be able to control what happens outside my classroom, however, I can certainly control what happens inside my classroom. By creating a positive and creative learning environment, I hope to inspire every student to continued success.
My Project
Help my students get the supplies they need to create masterpieces. My classroom needs some new art supplies to help update our dwindling stock. Students love having quality supplies to help them complete some amazing art projects.
Teaching through the arts can help me present difficult concepts visually, making them more easy for my students to understand.
Art instruction also helps my students with the development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and inventiveness.
This project will also give my students a few more pillows to use when they work away. My students love to work away from their desks, the few pillows we have are starting to break down. adding some new pillows to our classroom will allow my students to continue to work where they feel comfortable.
