I had the great opportunity to participate in my first project with this great website, DonorsChoose. The project was fully funded and I wanted to try again in another area I need support in within the classroom.
My students are from a diverse community and bring to the classroom a multitude of experiences.
They enjoy our midnight sun to the huge snowflakes that fall in the winter around our school. As they enjoy living in the North Pole, they are also hard at work in the classroom. This project I am working on will set a climate of relaxation and personalized seating for students to work to their full potential. As I look forward to the new year, I am full of excitement and my heart is filled with joy. When you are able to observe your students' taking part in their own learning it is incredible. I love my students and the passion they have for learning. It is a precious gift.
My Project
How do you work and learn? You find a way to create an area around you to suit your personality in a relaxing environment. What better way for students to take part in this by having these tools to assist them in their learning?
As an educator, I surround myself with items that make me motivate, inspire, create, and feel comfortable in order to teach.
Each child also wants this in their classroom. The hard chairs and staying at their desks can make the classroom become a place where focus is lost and creativity is gone.
I want to give students more options in the classroom to take charge of their own learning area: wobble chairs and cushions, soft seats, and balance ball chairs.
