I wrote this Donors Choose as I traveled back from Valdez after silver fishing. It was my hope to send in a project for I knew when I returned to the classroom I would have to adjust due to my lack of materials. I was nervous for I had a large class, and getting the appropriate materials, new materials, and tools to support kiddos was going to be difficult. Either from our low economic demographic students to finding the money, well from me. As a teacher going on 20 years, some materials are falling apart, to out of date. I was hopeful as I push the submit button. And then..I waited.\r\nIt was amazing to see it funded by you. As I saw the email, I almost started cheering. Ok, I did and the class was curious as I shared my journey in this process. We all cheered and then the boxes began to show up. Each box brought smiles, students opened them up or we made guesses as I gave clues. It was so exciting and as each item came, the worry of not having enough, slowly went away. \r\nStudents LOVE the reading strips and used them daily, the book series are popular and I can't find one due to students reading them. A parent reached out when a student brought one home to borrow and seeing their son read was magical. \r\nOur next steps are to utilized all our new items! From using the foot bands, reading new series, supplies to create art, a fabulous new stool, calm strips, notebooks, reading tools, best pencil sharpener ever, and so much more. The room feels amazing, happy, and less stressed. I feel confident to be able support students growth with more materials to put in students hands. \r\nThank you, for the classroom will continue to SPARKLE!","fullyFundedDate":1757532533496,"projectUrl":"project/a-sparkling-new-year-together/9672353/","projectTitle":"A Sparkling New Year, Together!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blankenship","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4661221_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y23&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691174045466","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4661221"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53613","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":376,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":54,"percentIndigenous":12,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":58.7,"schoolId":53613,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ticasuk Brown Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ticasuk Brown Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alaska/fairbanks-north-star-borough-sd/ticasuk-brown-elementary-school/53613"}
