Monarch butterflies are some of the most beautiful creatures there are and that includes Promise Academy monarchs. Our monarchs are full of life and beauty. They want to spread their wings and migrate into a bright future. My job as their teacher is to help them spread their wings and guide them on their journey.
I want that journey to be joyous for my monarchs.
I want them to know they can achieve anything they put their mind to. However, I need to have a great environment to start this process.
Most of my students come from a low-income/high poverty home and face several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I want to make their classroom as relaxed as possible for them, which will inspire great learning.
Most school lights are fluorescent lights that give off a harsh glare and can flicker, which can cause eyestrain, headaches, and anxiety in students. Light filters can calm and soothe students by decreasing glare. These light filters will make our class a more soothing and relaxing environment in which to learn math.
Speaking of math, the use of manipulatives is crucial in developing students' understanding of fraction ideas.
Manipulatives help students construct mental referents that enable them to perform fraction tasks meaningfully. Therefore, manipulatives should be used to introduce all components of the curriculum on fractions. Our class would love to have these manuipulatives in our room to reinforce our learning.
