My Students
We are filled with joy and excitement every morning when we enter our classroom. We are fortunate to be able to work with a fantastic group of students. They are the most hard working, caring, and supportive group of students ever! They are goal setters and achievers. They impress us each and every day! One can learn so much from just being around them.
They are an unique group of students who have a special zest for learning.
They are an inspiration to everyone they meet. The students are in a self contained special education classroom. They have the opportunity to work with a paraprofessional and myself throughout the day. The students are identified as having multiple disabilities, autism, or an intellectual disability. They push through their individual roadblocks and keep learning their number one priority.
My Project
Many of our students arrive to school very anxious and in a state of mind that is not ready to learn. The materials in the grant will give students sensory options upon arrival that will help them to be in a calm state. The students in our class want to be successful learners, but anxiety and hyeractivity often get in the way.
A calm mind and body leads to maximized learning.
Students are learning ways to increase focus and meet their individual needs through social emotional awareness. The materials that will be purchased will allow students the opportunity to meet sensory needs while increasing focus and learning outcomes.
