Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students consist of wide range of specific learning disabilities. These are students who need extra love and extra resources to help guide them through grade level curriculum. Our school is located in Baldwin Park, CA. Baldwin Park is home to a population of 76,511 people, from which 78.9% are citizens. The ethnic composition of the population of Baldwin Park, CA is composed of 57,804 Hispanic residents (75.5%), 13,379 Asian residents (17.5%), 2,949 White residents (3.85%), 1,437 Black residents (1.88%), and 405 Native residents (0.53%).
My Project
Most children can read a story once and can recall facts. However, there are some children who need repetitive reading or someone to read to them one on one in order to comprehend.
With a total of four tablets and earphones, my students will have the comfort and ability to hear audiobooks at their own pace, as many times as they needed, while someone reads to them one-on-one .
These will help with “Accelerated Reader” scores, comprehension , inferencing , recalling facts, and paying attention to detail, which are all life-long reading that ALL children need. The two bookshelves will also create a wonderful and cozy reading space for my student in class.
