My Students
Do you remember when you were in PreK? I work at a Title I school in the state of North Dakota and provide Special Education services to 3 and 4-year-old students. Currently, 100% of my student population is Native American. Every one of my students have different learning, social, emotional, and behavioral needs. These energetic students have bright minds and attempt to understand Miss Alix's love for learning! They are all very curious about their surroundings. It is such a joy to observe my students and how they interact with the world around them! They absolutely love hands-on and engaging activities that allow them to think outside the box.
They are all ready to bloom and develop their growing minds!
Half of my students are currently participating in distant learning and receive my services virtually. It is difficult for all parties involved but my students try their best to participate and stay focused! This is the first time my students begin to attend school and it can be scary for them. I try my best to come up with fun and engaging activities for them, as well as to create a learning environment where they feel safe.
My Project
Learning how to read is vital to becoming successful in life. As a Pre-K Special Education teacher, I do my best to incorporate reading into every intervention regardless of whether I have my students listen to me, point at pictures in the book, and/or make up a story. In order to help my students foster a love for reading, I want to provide them with a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. Bringing a small couch into my classroom will make my students feel more at home. Additionally, my big books don’t have a home nor do I have a sturdy easel to display them on, making it difficult to share with my students. Help me show my books and my students’ classroom some more love!
