Reinvent Urban Education with iPads!

My students need to use iPads on a daily basis for problem-based learning. We need 3 additional iPads and cases.

My Students

My 5th grade students come from a variety of backgrounds, have a variety of interests, and perform at different levels, but they all have an interest in using technology in the classroom. My goal for technology is to go beyond the basic use of technology to a place where technology is used to facilitate a higher order learning activities. Students will use technology to set goals, plan activities, monitor progress and evaluate their performance. My students love independent projects and always seem to maintain a high level of excitement while learning.

My Project

My school is a leader in reinventing the urban education experience. To achieve this goal, I would like my students to use iPads for problem-based learning or independent projects. Students can use iPads to research a topic, collaborate with peers, and communicate their knowledge by using on of the many apps available.

When students use iPads for problem-based learning or independent projects they develop autonomy and mastery of the subject they study.

My students will have forty-five minutes of independent learning everyday so iPads will be essential to my students daily lives. My students will use the iPads to learn about animals, national parks, and personal finance, just to name a few topics. Students show a high level of excitement while using iPads and are eager to get started. I know I am excited and eager too.
