My Students

A typical day in my classroom is full of learning experiences. I don't provide my students with lessons; I provide them with learning experiences. By the end of the school year, I want all of my students to be full of the necessary information to make them successful in the real world.

I am a committed Baltimore City Public School teacher who is willing to work hard to be a great teacher, however, I cannot do it alone.

We are a Title I school where ninety-nine percent of my students are African-American, from many diverse backgrounds including English Language Learners, military families to single families. These factors don't phase them. When you look at them you may see children who have already led a hard life, and children who have no hope of a positive future because of the neighborhoods that they come from. I would describe my school as a hidden gem. I think it provides a safe haven for children who are otherwise faced with tasks, responsibilities, and experiences that far exceed their years in maturity and experience. These factors don't phase them. They work hard everyday and want to reward the students i teach each and everyday!

My Project

This project is designed to continue to motivate the students in our school to make positive choices throughout their day whether it is their behavior or academics. My students have challenges that they must overcome every day just be a successful student and I want to do whatever I can to help make these challenges seem as small as possible. The diverse needs and abilities of the students in my classroom and at our school create the need for different rewards and motivators. I would love to pay them for their hard work and great behavior and have through various rewards I purchase over the course of the year. There is one Item I believe will really help me in rewarding the students and that is a snow cone machine. I am asking for a snow cone machine, syrup and supplies to use as rewards for not only the students in my room but for others in the school as well. These are items that will encourage students to work harder, behave better, better their academics and want to become better students from this reward.

This project will allow me to have big celebrations of the students who always do the right thing in the classroom and throughout the school, and encourage others to do the same.

The snow cone maker will allow my grade level and middle school to have assemblies to recognize positive student behavior and have a nice treat with it. This will encourage more students to do the right thing. Students who are making the right choices and offering them these treats every month will help. With your help the snow cone maker will be a great way to celebrate students who are making good choices and pushing their academics to be the best!
