Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has just added a third Autism classroom, and I have been lucky enough to switch positions and receive this new teaching opportunity.
My students are all diagnosed with Autism, most of whom will be coming into middle school for the first time.
It is crucial to take and track data each day, as well as allow the students to earn reinforcement, so an iPad would be beneficial to me, as well as them.
I have 8 male students who are between the ages of 10 and 12. Some of them have speech and language goals and all have behavior goals, social skill goals, and learning goals. I am excited to start this school year and journey with this amazing group of students!
My Project
This iPad will allow my students to complete work in a more efficient way in academic, social, behavioral, and community settings. Technology is a large part of education today, especially for those individuals who are diagnosed with Autism.
With this iPad, my students will also be able to earn reinforcement for appropriate behaviors and classroom jobs that they complete!
Additionally, para-educators and myself will be able to record and track data more easily and quickly without taking time away from our students. Collaboration and the ability to track progress on a daily and weekly basis are some of the most important factors in a classroom.
