My Project
I am always excited to work with my kindergarten students. They enjoy sharing their accomplishments with me and their peers all the time. In kindergarten, learning centers offer my students a range of options for engagement. Each center offers my students a variety of carefully selected materials and learning activities to choose from. My students are always engaged in hands-on activities as they explore and independently practice math and language arts skills and activities that reinforce and extend classroom learning.
Effective learning centers also build and strengthen social-emotional skills, community, motivation, and perseverance, which are essential to establishing a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
My students work with different learning partners throughout the year. The learning partners support each other as they work together on different types of learning centers. These include enrichment centers, skill centers, and interest/exploratory centers.
The learning centers will need a variety of different types of manipulatives to make learning more engaging, meaningful, and fun for my students. The manipulatives are hands-on objects, such as pom poms, translucent numbers, and linking cubes, that can transform learning into playful and interactive experiences. My students will also practice the life skill of responsibility and organization by placing all center materials into clearly labeled mesh pouches.
