My Students
Our world, including all the surrounding areas, is changing dramatically and rapidly. The needs of all of the students and families we serve contribute to that change and compel us as an organization to change to meet those needs. We have a culturally rich student population with the enrollment at our high school last year a little over 1600 students. As a community, we must take responsibility for EVERY student.
At the high school, 69% of our population is white/Caucasian, 31% of students categorized themselves as non-white, with 10.2% African American, 13% Latino, 5.6% Asian, and 0.5% Native American.
133 students (8.2%) receive ELL services. Approximately 17 % of our students qualified to participate in free or reduced lunch programs for the year. We currently serve about 149 students with disabilities, about 9.2% of the total student population.
My Project
The ISTE Certification process would cover a wide variety of resources and topics that would assist me in my role as an Educational Technology Coach.
This professional development would allow me to learn about new ways to increase student engagement while personalizing lessons for all learners.
It would also challenge me to reflect on and demonstrate my ability to utilize technology to transform learning in meaningful ways. Topics covered include: (1) Transforming learning with technology, (2) Reimagining learning, (3) The Power of crowdsourcing, (4) Research and educational practices, (5) Instructional design for transformation and (6) Applying research to classroom practices. In addition, the ability to learn with other educators from around the world in inspiring.
