This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My newly opened MSD room is full of recently identified, mostly nonverbal, students with ASD. We are trying to make this the best learning experience possible with many sensory experiences.

Do not misunderstand, “nonverbal” does not mean “unable to communicate “!!

I have been amazed at the work of my SLP and her ability to successfully introduce AAC devices. Many of my students already knew their shapes, ABC’s, and colors with no way to share!! Just imagine how much more relaxed and comfortable a young child becomes when they are finally “heard” and their needs are understood!! We can use comfy spaces, sensory stimulation, and answers for busy hands.
