My Project
Something that I've always wanted to create in my classroom for my students is a calming corner! Every child needs a safe space to reset, regulate, or just curl up with a book. Every year, I have students with disabilities, as well as students with severe emotional needs in my classroom. I also have Tier 3 special education program students who mainstream into my classroom. That being said, the space I want to create has to be flexible, soft, and welcoming to all learners.
Whether it’s a student who needs a sensory break, a group collaborating on a project, or a child who just needs a comfy spot to reconnect with learning, this couch and chair will do it all!
This couch and chair will provide a comfortable, consistent spot for movement breaks, quiet reading, small group work, or even imaginative play. It will give students real ownership over how they learn and rest in the space. Additionally, it's made of vinyl, which will allow me to easily clean it so it will last for many years!
For students with IEPs, sensory needs, or big emotions, it’s more than furniture—it’s a tool for emotional regulation and inclusive learning.
