Regents Rockstars Ready for Rewards

My Project

My students are the match to my never-ending fire... I am blessed to work with mostly ENL (English as a New Language) students, many of whom are refugees and immigrants coming from all over the world. Regardless of their language levels, each of these juniors in high school are required to take and pass the New York State English Regents exam in June without the assistance from a translator (so unfair). To say that these students are rockstars is an understatement! They are sponges ready to soak up any opportunity that comes their way.

Additionally, 100% of my students are living under the poverty line and are not lucky enough to be treated for their successes.

Now, after the COVID-19 pandemic, students everywhere have seemingly lost the motivation necessary to truly succeed in their academic endeavors. It has been a struggle these past months to light a fire under their you-know-whats and encourage them to keep their eyes on the prize - "strive for 65!" (on the exam).

I used to spend HUNDREDS of dollars on candy/snack raffle rewards for these sweet scholars to give them the motivation to study/work diligently to pass their English exam and graduate on time the following year. From May-June, I would reward students for making the right decisions in my classroom, for achieving high grades, for following procedures, for going above and beyond in the English classroom, and more. Having this donation would save me so much money (that I barely get paid in the first place)... I thank you in advance for considering a donation to my PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) project!
