This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my students face the daily challenge of getting to school on an empty stomach. As a result, the materials necessary to become successful in school often lack and are not a concern to them. A writing utensil and paper are not on a students' mind if they have so many other, more urgent topics on their minds. In addition, there is a lack of resources in our schools and I don't have books to teach out of so, I create my own lessons.
It is for this reason that I seek these items to ensure that my students are provided with the snacks and supplies to continue to push through.
Because the resources are just not there, I am forced to create lessons and provide snacks on my own and this task has proven to weigh heavily on me financially.
