Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I have the privilege of working as a school counselor. My students just came back from a long hiatus due to Covid. Most of them are excited to spend time with their friends. Quite a few of them are nervous and anxious about being back in a school environment especially the 6th graders that are just starting middle school. My students care about their school environment, community, and each other.
Socio-emotional learning is at the forefront of this school year.
My students can all benefit from a lot of emotional and financial support. As a counselor working in a Title I school, the need for additional resources to benefit the emotional well-being of the community is a priority.
My Project
I am requesting some much needed leggings for my students. Since my school houses so many shelter students, I want to be able to support them with their basic needs so they can focus in school. These students are already dealing with so many personal problems at home. They don't need to worry about the basic need of cleanliness. Students have told me they do not feel comfortable going to gym class because they might have accidents during their work out. I want them to feel free to run around and enjoy gym class and to know that I will supply them with whatever they need to make them feel fresh.

As a school counselor, I want to support my students and teach them to be healthy physically and emotionally. These items will be used so that all students will fully feel comfortable in school and have the basic necessities needed to feel clean.
